Solid pub food with generous portions, particularly the chunky chips—super crispy outside and fluffy inside. The spacious rooms, especially Room 1, are impressively tidy and warm, making for a comfortable sleep location amidst a busy atmosphere.
The noise level can be intense, especially on weekends, thanks to the lively local crowd and late-night jukebox, which might not suit those seeking tranquility. Basic amenities in the room felt lacking, with only one seat and no table, limiting comfort for multiple guests. A lack of coffee and tea supplies was disappointing, and parking could benefit from designated spaces.

great staff but disappointing food quality
The staff were exceptionally helpful,, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The chips were a highlight,, with a perfect crispy exterior and fluffy interior that truly impressed us.
The food quality varied significantly, which was disheartening.

Chips were excellent with a super crispy texture.
The room is nothing like the pictures shared. it was much smaller, and areas of the carpet were missing. There was a disgusting smell, and the window didn't close properly. Although the staff offered a refund, it was impossible to find any other accommodation.

Great food but noisy vibes
So the food was really good, especially those crispy chips! But man, the loud music was a total buzzkill for sleep, like trying to catch z's in a club! The pub/bar area was packed with locals, which felt lively but also meant no peace. Honestly, if you're after a chill place to crash, keep looking.

stayed at thrums hotel for a night and really enjoyed it. the staff was super helpful and polite, always ready to assist. great location too, especially if you're looking to play golf at the nearby kirriemuir golf course. the food was another highlight, with lunch snacks like chunky, crispy chips that were seriously the best i've ever had!
the puff pastry on the steak pie could use some work.

Just a solid selection for a quick weekend visit in Kirriemuir with good value considering price it charged. The delicious Chocolate Fudge Cake was a highlight, served in a deep bowl of chocolate sauce that was hard to resist. Consider checking out the menu ahead of time to avoid any surprises.

Charming Spot with Friendly Vibes
A delightful stay! The energetic atmosphere, especially in the bar area, made our nights enjoyable. Staff were accommodating, and the lunch snacks, particularly the chunky, crispy chips, were a highlight. Just be cautious with dinner choices, as some dishes missed the mark. a great weekend getaway!

Thrums Hotel, what a treat! The chips were hands down the best I've ever tasted—super crispy, and that pub vibe had everyone in good spirits! Plus, the steak pie had solid meat, though it could use a pastry overhaul.
Ah, but the noise! The juke box was roaring till nearly 1 am, not ideal for a peaceful night. If you’re not up for a raucous local scene, best to steer clear on the weekends.

The bar area was lively, filled with locals enjoying
the football match. I appreciated the friendly atmosphere, but the noise made it difficult to unwind. The food varied. while the chips were memorable, other dishes missed the mark, particularly my disappointing Chinese curry.

The friendly staff made a lasting impression. While the room was comfortable and offered a much-appreciated heater, the dining experience was uneven. The scampi was decent, but the limited menu felt basic, and the choice of desserts was limited. the atmosphere was disrupted by noise from the bar area on a busy Saturday.
